Exploring Ecosystems

The Talladega Wetland Ecosystem (TWS) is a location for long-term research in land-water interactions. Initiated in 1992, research has focused primarily on the 1.36 ha beaver main pond in the lower half of the wetland. The main goals were to evaluate wetlands as land-water interfaces with emphasis on carbon flux, quantification of material flow through the system, and mechanisms important to material retention and biological productivity.
